Language shifts in the language biographies of immigrants from Upper Silesia residing in Germany

Abstract The main objective of the article is to illustrate how language ideologies and language management at the macro-level (state language policy), micro-level (in families) and meso-level (local communities) influence language change and the conceptualization of multilingualism of immigrants from Upper Silesia residing in Germany. Language biographies of persons from Silesia demonstrate the significant influence of historical and political events on sociolinguistic processes. Original fragments of biographical interviews of the people surveyed constitute an integral part of the text.

Aquest article presenta els principals antecedents per a l'estudi psicològic de l'autoritarisme de dretes. Per a tal fi es parteix dels treballs del Grup de Berkeley (1950) sobre la personalitat autoritària, posteriorment s'introdueix el concepte de dogmatisme proposat per Rokeach (1960) i després es comenten les aportacions d'Altemeyer (1981, 2004) sobre l'autoritarisme de dretes. The unpublished correspondence between Leonardo Sciascia and Piero Guccione from 1975 to 1989 shows the profound charge of humanity that innervates the friendship between these two great Enlightenment leaders "upside down". A "correspondence of amorous senses", despite the inevitable ideological differences, which the letters reproduced here for the first time and the original contributions of the volume give us back, under the banner of the binomial "beauty-truth".

It is widely held that voting in the course of ordinary elections has no significant influence on the constitutional regime or order of a country. At least three powerful arguments are provided in support of that view. First, to claim that, at the same time as they play, players can change the rules is, to say the least, logically puzzling. Vertical competition in a unitary state

The paper is concerned with what Albert Breton, in his theory of competitive federalism has called vertical competition, that is, competition between governments situated at different levels. However its setting is government systems that are unitary rather than federal and structured around three or four levels of government rather than the two often implicitly assumed. The paper tries to show that these characteristics may offer a partial solution to what is perhaps the major problem raised by vertical competition, that is, how winners in a vertical contest get protected against retaliation by the losers when the latter can change the rules (which are not constitutionally entrenched). From Fortini to Volponi, from Giudici to Arbasino, up to Lagioia, Affinati and Camilleri: for these writers talking about the Berlin Wall means reflecting on the crisis of ideologies, on the contradictions of history, on the relationship between literature and reality.
